The LORD Is A Man Of War

"The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name." (Exodus 15:3)

Down through the centuries many men have been known as great men of war, brilliant strategists, military geniuses, etc. There has never been a military mind like that of our God, Jehovah.

Jehovah's war strategies may not look good to a West Point graduate, but they always work, He's never lost a battle! Think about how the Lord has won battles down through the ages:

~ He wins them with as few men as possible, as with Gideon (See Judges 7:1-7).

~ He wins them with pitchers and lanterns and trumpets (Judges 7).

~ He wins wars by marching and shouting (Joshua 6)

~ He wins them using teenage boys with slingshots (1Samuel 17)

~ He's also used other means such as: hornets, locusts, angels, one strong man and a jawbone, and also just old fashioned hand to hand combat.

The strange thing about the Lord's wars is that most of the time He first sends word to the enemy, of what He's going to do, and then He does it. And He still wins, everytime!

These days we're watching things heat up around Israel, and people are calling it the beginning of WWIII. Whether it will be or not, it is definitely a pre-cursor to it. Probably the most well known battle, that has yet to be fought, is Armageddon. It seems like every war has been, or is leading up to that one. And don't think for a minute that the Lord doesn't have His plans laid out for that one too.

The Lord's strategy for this battle is a simple one:

1) He picks the place (The valley of Megiddo) (Zechariah 12:11, Revelation 16:16)

2) He picks the time (Acts 1:6-7)

3) Tell the enemy when and where to gather (Joel 3:9-12)

4) Don't go chasing them, just wait until they come to you (Zephaniah 3:8)

5) No need for modern day weapons and special forces soldiers- just one Man, a horse, and a sword will do. (Revelation 19)

Even though this "yet to be" war is described in detail throughout the scripture, the enemies still have no advantage, because they don't believe the scriptures. If they did, they wouldn't be in the battle to begin with. This battle has been building for a long time. For Israel's judgement, and to turn their hearts back to the Lord. Everyone else in the world is just a pawn in God's great scheme. This battle will consist of all the nations of the world, against Israel. The Anti-Christ (Beast) will have a confederation of all the Gentile nations' militaries, and they will gather in the valley of Armageddon, with their guns pointed at Israel (That would happen today, if the USA wasn't around- ?? Revelation 12:14??)

But on that day, on the Lord's side, their will be no tanks, jets, guns, or nuclear missiles. The Captain of the Lord's host Himself (Joshua 5:13-15), King of Kings and Lord of Lords, will come riding through the skies on a white stallion, with only one weapon. A sharp two-edged sword, proceeding out of His mouth.(Revelation 19:11-16) And by His blessed Word, and the beauty and brightness of His appearing, He will defeat everyone of the Beast's army in a moment.(2Thessalonians 2:8)

Sounds like a pretty good strategy to me. How about you, which side will you be on in that day? I'll be behind the Captain, riding my own white horse, cheering the Lord on before me! (Revelation 19:14)

"The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel." (Joel 3:16)
