Acceptable To Whom?

Recently, we talked about Psalm 19:14. " Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." This verse is a prayer of David to God, saying that he wants the words that come out of his mouth and the meditation (or thoughts) of his heart to be acceptable in God's sight. This verse ought to be the constant prayer of every Christian. But, as I thought on this passage, I was reminded of another verse in Luke 6. Verse 45 says, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." The end of this verse says that whatever is in the heart will come out in your actions or words. This verse reminds me of so many "Christians" today whose heart is not right. They think about things they shouldn't and they may fool everybody on the outside, but is will come out just like this verse says. It's like the passage where Jesus tells the Pharisees they are like "whited sepulchres" but on the inside they were full of "dead men's bones". You may look good on the outside but remember, God "looketh on the heart". (I Samuel 16:7) I hope this challenges you as it did me.

Very good post Caleb. And God's Word is true. The condition a person's heart is in will be revealed in time. People think they are fooling others..and they may very well be doing just that...but they can't fool God.
