Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
For the past several weeks, my pastor has been preaching on the armour of God taken from Ephesians 6. He has taken several weeks for each piece as he teaches the importance of having on the WHOLE armour. This past Wednesday, he preached on the importance of "putting on" a prayer life. EVERY Christian should earnestly pray as they pour out their heart to God. As he had us turn to Hebrews 11:6, he pointed out how we as Christians will go to God in prayer but yet do not believe that God will actually answer our prayers. We ask God to supply a need but we really don't have the faith that this verse is talking about. What we need to do is believe that God DOES hear and WILL answer our prayers, according to His will.
Pastor also challenged each of us to claim a promise from God's Word and read or say that verse each time we pray. Get a promise from God's Word, claim that promise and expect God to answer.
Here are a couple of my favorite promises:
Jeremiah 33: 3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
In our Bible time this morning, Momma shared one of her favorite promises with us found in II Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him..."

Joshua...this is really good. The first verse I ever claimed as a promise from God when I got saved was Psalm 27:14 "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." My husband and I were separated at the time and God gave me this verse as a promise while I was praying for him to come back to us. God proved Himself real and true in my life by giving me the strength to go through what I went through during that time as a baby Christian and gave me the courage to continue on. He certainly did srtengthen me and answered my prayer as you know...because my husband came home to us and got saved and is now preaching the gospel and pastoring. God is so much better to me than I deserve!!! I thank Him daily for His promises. He has never failed to keep one yet!! Great post!!
"The Words of the Lord are pure Words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." Psalm 12:6-7
I am so thankful for God's promise to preserve His Word to all generations. I do not have to hope or guess about God's Word. I can know it is true.
