Move over eye....make room for the ear...

A few days ago, in my Bible reading, I came across I Corinthians 12:14-17, " For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?" In these verses the Bible speaks of the body having many members, not just one. But, I want you to notice verse 17. In this verse it says if every part of the body were an eye, who would be an ear? This verse can apply to us today. No matter how small your job in your church is, it is still important. If you wash the towels for the baptistry and neglected that job for awhile, who would be affected by it?....a new convert?.....one who needs to see the faithfulness of christians. How about your pastor who is depending on you? If the little jobs are left undone, the "big" jobs are much harder to accomplish. Just like verse 17 says, if everybody wanted to sing in the choir, who would keep the nursery? If everyone wanted to work in the nursery, who would help in the children's services?
You see, no matter how "small" your job may seem, it is important in God's eyes. You may not receive honor for it down here, but your faithfulness will be rewarded in heaven.

You make very good points. I have learned through much humbling that anything you do in the house of God helps the Man of God. It is so sad that most work in the church is done by few people. Good post.
