If Our Gospel Be Hid

As I was reading my Bible one morning, I ran across these verses in II Corinthians 4:3,4 which say, “ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
As I read these verses, I got to thinking about how that is just like us Christians. We’ve been saved, yet we don’t want to tell others about Him. Some of you that read this may say that you are shy just like me. But, ever since we started going soul-winning on Thursday nights with our church, the Lord has really helped me to overcome my shyness. Sometimes I still have to force myself to talk to someone, but the Lord is continuing to help me. The least we can do as Christians is hand out a tract to someone and invite them to church. Like it says in verse 4, Satan has blinded the eyes of the lost. We need to tell everybody we meet how to be saved. (Acts 26:18) If we don’t tell them, who is going to? I want to challenge each of you to take a stand and tell others about Him this coming year.

Very good post Joshua!! I know it has helped me to go on soul-warning visitation as well. I was very shy before going. I'm still a bit nervous when I go but I at least will talk now whereas before we started going out I wouldn't talk so much. I would hand out a tract but wouldn't actually talk to anyone. I'm glad it has helped you too.

Thank you for sharing that! It's true that most of us don't want to really tell others... we're full of excuses on why we won't talk to others. But our 'shyness', I think, is really a disguise for our selfishness. When we are truly putting others first, nothing would stop us from sharing the gospel with them.
My mom just wrote a post about this subject called "We are Debtors".
I think it's great you're going soul-winning with your church. The more we share the gospel, the more we'll keep desiring to.
Great post.

Soul Traveller said....I am struggling extremely hard with my journey home to the Lord and DOING what He has shown me is right and the Truth, SO PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!)

I will be praying that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the Truth of God's word.... read it with an open heart and allow God to speak to you...not what some men have taught you in the past.

Going soul winning is a great way to pull a person out of their shyness, that's for sure. It helped me. Am I shy? NO! But I was about talking to people about the Lord. Not because I was ashamed of Him, but because people get on the defensive so easily. But that's just the devil that puts those thoughts in our head. Sometimes I run into someone that is rude, but more often the person I talk to is very nice. They may not accept Christ. I may never see them in my church, but they are usually always nice. And for the ones that are rude, that's just another sign that they need the love of Christ within them.
