Search Me, O God

In Psalm 139:23,24 we read, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Here we see David asking the Lord to search him and to reveal to him any sin in his life. Not only is he asking the Lord to reveal the sin in his heart, but in his mind also. Like David, each of us need to pray and ask the Lord to show us the sin in our lives. We may think we can hide our sins, but we can't. Proverbs 28:13 says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Let's ask the Lord to examine our hearts (Psalm 26:2 "Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart."), and then as He brings to our mind certain things, confess and forsake them.

Great post, Joshua. Life sure can be hard when you try to cover up your sins. That tells a lot about the tenderness of the heart too, I think.
