Proverbs 13:20 "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
This verse says "...a companion of fools shall be destroyed. " We have heard preaching that relates to our friends and how we need to have godly friends, but how do we know who we should hang around with?
Here are a few characteristics of a fool.
1. Mockery of God - Psalm 14:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."
2. Multitude of Words - Ecclesiastes 5:2,3 "Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words."
3. Master of Deceit - Proverbs 14:8 "The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit."
4. Man of Wrath - Proverbs 14:29 "He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly." Proverbs 12:16 "A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame."
