Stand In Awe

(This is an outline of a message preached by my pastor. My (Joshua's) comments are in red.)

"Stand In Awe"
We should stand in awe of:
I. God - Psalm 33:8
Sad to say, this world that we live in does not fear the Lord. Whether it's in their thoughts, actions, dress, etc., people do not reverence the Lord like they once did. Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Those that fear, respect and reverence the Lord are wise and will be blessed. Ask the Lord as you go about your daily actions, "Am I fearing You"?
II. His Word - Psalm 119:161
We need to get back into God's Word and hunger to learn more about Him. Matthew 5:6 states, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Are you truly hungering after His Word? Do you have a desire to know more about Him? If you truly hunger and thirst for His Word, God will fill you.
III. Sin - Psalm 4:4
We should be frightened of the power of sin. Sin is powerful. This world isn't getting any better. We should hate the devil and sin. Amos 5:15 reads, "Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph." I heard a saying once ~ "Sin will bind you, blind you, and grind you". How true that is. The devil is so sneaky of the way he puts sin in front of you. Bro. Billy Sunday once said that he's going to punch the devil till he can't punch him anymore, then he's going to kick the devil till he can't kick him anymore, then he's going to bite the devil till he can't bite him anymore, and then he's going to gum the devil to death. Just like Amos 5:15 says, let's hate the evil and love the good.
