God’s Preacher

There are many men standing in the pulpits of our churches who are not "God’s preachers." What sort of man shall "God’s preacher" be? He should be one who has a definite call from God to preach the Gospel of Christ. He should be a man after God’s own heart. His one desire should be to please the Lord and to conform to the image of His Son.
He should be a man who studies the Word of God daily. He should be a man who has control of his house, and he should love his own wife and leave all other women alone. His lifestyle should be above reproach. He should pay all his debts and his word should be his bond.
"God’s preacher" should love every member of his congregation. He should have no favorite sheep. He should treat each member the same. Their troubles and sorrows should be his, and their joys should be shared. He should teach them the path in which they should walk, He is to reprove, rebuke and exhort without favor.
"God’s preacher" should never speak evil of one member in the presence of another. "God’s preacher" will not talk about members behind their backs. He should warn them of false doctrine and tell them the truth about the `cults’ that are so prevalent in our nation. He should be a God-fearing man, an example to every husband, father, and brother in the fold.
He should be a husband his wife can respect and obey. He should love his children in Godly subjection. He should pay his taxes and participate in the city, county, state and national elections. He should vote for the best candidate, regardless of their political tag. He should be a respected member of his community.
"God’s preacher" is not a hireling. He is the little shepherd under the authority of the "Great Shepherd," the Lord Jesus Christ. A church does not "hire" a preacher, it "calls" a man of God. A big salary will not produce a preacher who truly loves his members. This love must be placed by the Holy Spirit in a man’s soul. "God’s preacher" is, without exception, a man sent from God.

Amen!! I'd like to say that my husband (who is my pastor too by the way) fits into these areas. I'm so thankful and humbled to be married to a God-called Man of God!! It would be wonderful if we could say that every church has this privelege and honor...but unfortunately there are churches (even IFB churches) that don't have this blessing. Great post!!

This is an awesome post. One reason that I attend the church that I attend is because I believe that the preacher is God called and fits the role in Gods eyes!

Amen! God's preacher needs to be everything the Word says he should be. I think what tops the list is that God's preacher must be holy. The HOLY WORD of God deserves to be given through a clean/holy vessel.

I enjoy your blog. Keep up the good ministry here.

Can you tell me where you get the wonderful Christian music that is playing in the background?

Thank you.
