The Lord’s Protection

Isaiah 43:1-3 “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.”
In our world today, there is much emphasis on protection. We have national protection through our brave soldiers, for whom I am greatly thankful. Then we have personal protection—whether it be through some form of martial arts or even a can of mace! There is also home protection with alarm systems and neighborhood watch programs. But as we see in today’s verses, God offers a protection that is greater than these.

There are times in each of our lives when we need something more than protection here on earth. Although this world’s protection may work in certain areas, it will not work when we battle the devil. The devil is attacking us each day, and we need the Lord’s protection in fighting him. If we fight in our own flesh, we cannot win against the devil.

Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” In order to withstand the devil’s attacks, we must put on the armor of God—we need His protection. In the story of David and Goliath, Goliath had all the protection the world offered and David had no earthly protection, yet the Lord was with David. The Lord protected David and guided his stone to defeat Goliath. David was only able to win this battle with the protection of the Lord.

The early American Indians had a unique practice of training young braves. On the night of one particular boy's thirteenth birthday, after learning hunting, scouting, and fishing skills, he was put to one final test. He was placed in a dense forest to spend the entire night alone. Until then, he had never been away from the security of the family and the tribe. But on this night, he was blindfolded and taken several miles away.

When he took off the blindfold, he was in the middle of the woods, and he was terrified! Every time a twig snapped, he visualized a wild animal ready to pounce. After what seemed like an eternity, dawn broke and the first rays of sunlight entered the interior of the forest. Looking around, the boy saw flowers, trees, and the outline of the path. Then, to his utter astonishment, he beheld the figure of a man standing just a few feet away, armed with a bow and arrow. It was his father. He had been there all night long.

When we are thrown into a situation we do not understand or when we can’t seem to find our way, our Heavenly Father is there, protecting us from the devil. Even if we were to have all the protection of this world, we wouldn’t be able to stand against the devil. That’s why Christ has promised to protect us.

Take time right now to seek God’s protection in your life. We must seek Him every morning to ask Him for His strength and protection to help us throughout the day. Only with Christ’s protection can we resist the devil each day and live fruitful Christian lives for His glory.

I thank God for His protection and for those He allows to be in positions here on earth to protect us. I'm afraid that those that He has for us here oftentimes go unnoticed. I for one (since my husband was a police officer for so many years and I had my daddy and brother who served in the military) try to thank those I see who are in uniform to protect us here. I try not to take them for granted. They are underpaid and underappreciated!!

There is nothing better than God protection. Putting on the Amor of God first thing is the morning is the only way to make sure that you are totally protected from the world. Another fantastic post!
